QUALITY ENGINEER

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The Quality Engineer is responsible for assisting the QA Manager with quality related activities within the organization including external audits and supplier management.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with quality related activities required for design and manufacture of marine propulsion equipment in accordance with the company’s ISO 9001:Quality Management System.
  • Review inspection data, address non-conforming materials issues and consistent follow up with vendors and engineering to evaluate root cause of non-conformity.
  • Follow up with suppliers for non-conforming materials and completion of corrective action plans.
  • Evaluate vendor’s quality systems overseeing site audits and manufacturing process capabilities.
  • Excellent knowledge of GD&T
  • High degree of knowledge of applications and limitations of standard NDE methods
  • Participate in design control activities with engineering to identify quality related issues during the design phases of product development and modification.
  • Manage corrective/preventive action system and track corrective action activities for supplier issues
  • Conduct external audit activities and scheduled completions.
  • Participate in third party audits and assessments.
  • Interface and coordinate with customers, marine classification societies, and project management to address/resolve quality issues and concerns relative to non-conformance and corrective actions.
  • Read and interpret manufacturing drawings, shop routers, manufacturing specifications, and quality control documents.
  • Perform quality techniques to track, analyze and report on materials, processes and products to ensure they meet the company's quality standards.
  • Maintain a safe work environment in accordance with company HSE standards and procedures.
  • Interact and support a broad spectrum of personnel internal and external to the company. Work effectively and efficiently in both team-based and independent working environments to reduce costs and add value to the organization.
  • Provide effective management of subordinates to achieve desired results. Attributes necessary to meet this need may include communications, motivation, team building, employee involvement, diplomacy, delegating, etc. skills as well as confidence and enthusiasm.
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the Quality AssuranceManager.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM

  • BS in an Engineering discipline or a combination of experience and education
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 requirements;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the aptitude to write and update quality procedures and Work Instructions (WI); and
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications software.

PREFERRED

  • BSME’s degree from a four-year college or university;
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001: requirements;
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer;
  • ASQ Certified Black Belt; and
  • Experience in compliance with ABS, DNV, LRS, BV, GL, CCS or other marine classification society rules.

 


CUSTOMER SERVICE PROJECT COORDINATOR

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The Customer Service Project Coordinator will provide logistics and parts sales support within the Customer Service group.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works with Field Service Manager to track Field Technician hours and manage efficient dispatching of resources.
  • Produces monthly Customer Services business reports and distributes to Customer Service team, and upper management.
  • Develops part quotes and responds to customer RFPs as received.
  • Tracks parts and service orders and advises Customer Service team when orders are expected to be delayed.
  • Provides communications as required to keep customer current on delivery status of parts and service orders.
  • Maintains proposal log and parts/service database.
  • Providesbackup support for Field Service Administrator.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Good verbal and written communications skills, including being able to clearly communicate difficult problems to a customer.
  • Independent and proactive individual with above average organizational skills.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft productivity software, including Word, and Excel.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors Degree in Business, Marketing, or other business related field.
  • Ten (10) years experience in Customer Service, Sales, or Planning.


FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN - MECHANICAL


SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES


The Field Service Technician provides support for installation, troubleshooting and repairs of the company's marine propulsion products and systems.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assemble, install, test, troubleshoot, and commission mechanically and hydraulically-driven propulsion equipment on shipboard installations.
  • Provide routine, scheduled, and on-call service.
  • Troubleshoot and repair product failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct dock and sea trials of installed propulsion equipment.
  • Complete required service work documentation.
  • Maintain a safe work environment in accordance with company HSE standards and procedures.


OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Good verbal and written communications skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft productivity software, including Word, Excel, and email.
  • Must be able to travel up to 50% of your time.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate of ASEE-rated Associate in Applied Science (AAS) level program in Mechanical or Industrial Technology or an equivalent combination in experience, education, and/or training including U.S. Navy or U.S. Coast Guard trained in a mechanical or maintenance discipline; and
  • Five (5) years experience in installation, or testing of mechanical rotating equipment or electro-hydraulic systems.
  • Special consideration given to previous experience in repair and maintenance of marine based mechanical systems.

 


FIELD SERVICE TECHNICIAN - ELECTRICAL


SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES


The Field Service Technician provides support for installation, troubleshooting and repairs of the company's marine propulsion products and systems.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


Install, wire, terminate, and test, electrical control panels, motors, variable frequency drives, and other components on shipboard installations.

  • Install, test, troubleshoot, and commission electro-hydraulic analog and digital PLC control systems on shipboard installations.
  • Provide routine, scheduled, and on-call service.
  • Troubleshoot and repair product failures and implement corrective actions.
  • Conduct dock and sea trials of installed propulsion equipment.
  • Complete required service work documentation.
  • Maintain a safe work environment in accordance with company HSE standards and procedures.


OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Good verbal and written communications skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft productivity software, including Word, Excel, and email.
  • Must be able to travel up to 50% of your time.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate of any ASEE-rated Associate level program in Electronics Technology or an equivalent combination in experience, education, and/or training including U.S. Navy or U.S. Coast Guard trained in a electronic control systems or power systems; and
  • Five (5) years experience in installation, or testing of electro-hydraulic systems, to include PLC control systems, in an offshore marine environment.
  • Special consideration given to previous experience in repair and maintenance of marine based electrical systems.


COMMISSIONING ENGINEER

JOB SCOPE


The Commissioning Engineer provides high level support for marine propulsion system commissioning and overhauls, and performs troubleshooting and repairs on the company's products and systems.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for preparing and executing detailed commissioning and system overhaul plans.
  • Work with customers, project managers, Engineering, Manufacturing, and Field Service to ensure systems are installed and function correctly.
  • Manage field crews and third party contractors at customer locations to ensure successful completion of assigned tasks.
  • Conduct dock and sea trials of installed propulsion equipment.
  • Prepare detailed reports for customer and TMOT management on job specific results.
  • Troubleshoot and repair defects and product failures, conduct root cause analyses, documents findings, and recommends corrective actions.
  • Assist with the training of contractors, customers, and vendors on product operation and maintenance as required.
  • Assist with factory acceptance testing of completed assemblies and components prior to shipping.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Good verbal and written communications skills, including being able to clearly communicate difficult problems to a customer.
  • Independent and proactive individual with above average organizational skills.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft productivity software, including Word, Excel, and Project.
  • Must be able to travel up to 30% of your time

 

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM

  • Associates degree in electrical, mechanical, or marine technology, or equivalent; and 10 years experience in a similar position; and
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and execute complex technical operations.

PREFERRED

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Mechanical or Marine Engineering; and
  • Five (5) years experience planning and executing complex technical operations involving control systems, mechanical rotating equipment or electro-hydraulic systems in an offshore marine environment.



SENIOR MANUFACTURING ENGINEER


SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES


The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for the application of lean manufacturing principles in company operations, analyze and plan work force utilization, space requirements, workflow, and design layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency, and any coordination with operations or facilities maintenance for physical plant resource issues.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Research, plan, direct, and coordinate lean manufacturing processes for production of product.
  • Work concurrently with engineering to develop new products, ensuring that manufacturability and lean thinking is integral to the products' design.
  • Apply basic knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) in accordance with ASME Y14.5M:1994.
  • Assist with the design and development of special equipment, tooling, fixturing, and/or evaluate or assist in the evaluation of special or new manufacturing equipment or processes.
  • Confer with subcontractor suppliers to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluate products according to specifications and quality standards.
  • Troubleshoot defects and product failures, conduct root cause analyses, and implement corrective actions.
  • Ensure quality control in accordance with the company ISO-9001:2008 Quality Assurance System (QAS).
  • Maintain a safe work environment in accordance with company HSE standards and procedures.
  • Interact and support a broad spectrum of personnel internal and external to the company. Work effectively and efficiently in both team-based and independent working environments to reduce costs and add value to the organization.
  • Write program of machine instructions in symbolic language to encode numerical control database to regulate movement of machine along cutting path using Master Cam software.
  • Write instruction sheets and cutter lists to guide setup and operation of machine based on tool selection criteria.
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the Manufacturing Engineering Manager.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering Technology or seven (7) years of equivalent education, training, and experience;
  • Experience with 3D Solid Modeling, CADD, and CAM software packages and advanced experience with CNC programming;
  • Experience in developing and implementing Lean concepts
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications software including Project.
  • Five (5) years experience industry experience with manufacturing and machining processes; and
  • Syteline experience a plus.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering Technology or fifteen (15) years of equivalent education, training, and experience;
  • Advanced knowledge of 3D Solid Modeling, CADD, and CAM;
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of Lean principles
  • Advanced experience in CNC programming; and
  • Ten (10) years experience industry experience with manufacturing and machining processes.


SENIOR MECHANICAL ENGINEER


SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES


Depending upon background, education, training, and experience, Senior Mechanical Engineers are involved in the design of mechanical, electrical, electro-hydraulic, and systems.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Under general supervision of the VP of Engineering , make recommendations in the design and development of new products.
  • Plan, conduct, and direct product engineering projects to support manufacturing processes which are difficult and complex in nature, necessitating the application of advanced engineering knowledge.
  • Perform structural and technical product designs, finite element analyses, and other related engineering computations as appropriate to education, training, and experience.
  • Apply advanced engineering principals, theories, concepts and techniques to tasks and projects that are within established and appropriate industry standards.
  • Apply basic knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) in accordance with ASME Y14.5M:1994.
  • Construct 3-D solid models of components and systems for rapid prototyping, manufacturing processes, function and motion validation, mechanical design margin, and interference studies.
  • Coordinate with quality assurance in the assessment and specification of quality plans and processes in accordance with ISO-9001:2000 or regulatory or classification requirements.
  • Provide appropriate engineering support for project activities including proposals, contracts, procurement, manufacturing, testing, installation, and customer acceptance trials.
  • Oversee, evaluate, and assist with designs and development of special equipment, tooling, and/or evaluate or assist in the evaluation of special or new manufacturing equipment or processes.
  • Originate and apply new and unique engineering methods and procedures.
  • Manage the preparation of bills of material, manufacturing drawings and data, reference drawings and data, general arrangement, electrical, control, piping and instrumentation drawings and data, and detail drawings and procedures for handling, installation, operation and maintenance.
  • Ensure quality control in accordance with the company ISO-9001:2008 Quality Assurance System (QAS).
  • Maintain a safe work environment in accordance with company HSE standards and procedures.
  • Interact and support a broad spectrum of personnel internal and external to the company. Work effectively and efficiently in both team-based and independent working environments to reduce costs and add value to the organization.
  • Perform any other duties that maybe assigned by the VP of Engineering.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master of Science in Mechanical; and
  • Five (5) years experience in the design and manufacturing of rotating, electrical, electro-hydraulic, or marine propulsion machinery and equipment.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Doctorate (Ph.D.) in Mechanical; and
  • Seven (7) years experience in the design and manufacturing of rotating, electrical, electro-hydraulic, or marine propulsion machinery and equipment or marine propulsion systems.



COMMISSIONING ENGINEER

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Demonstrated ability to plan and execute complex technical operations.

  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or Marine Engineering; and
  • Five (5) years experience planning and executing complex technical operations involving mechanical rotating equipment or electro-hydraulic systems, to include PLC control systems, in an offshore marine environment.


TECHNICAL SALES MANAGERS

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibility of the Technical Sales Manager is managing of all technical content in proposals and contracts for Thrustmaster equipment.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Review, evaluate and formulate responses to customer specifications, codes, regulations, etc.
  • Define cost of compliance or reasoning for non-compliance to inquiry specifications.
  • Write technical proposals in response to inquiries.
  • Conduct technical meetings with customers in coordination with Regional Sales Managers and / or Sales Agents.
  • Provide technical support to the worldwide sales force and interact with customers and prospects as needed.
  • Write and update product specifications as needed.
  • Interact and support a broad spectrum of personnel internal and external to the company.
  • Work effectively and efficiently in both team-based and independent working environments to reduce costs and add value to the organization.
  • Perform any other duties that may be assigned by the Sales Manager.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors of Science Mechanical or Marine Engineering.
  • Naval Architect.
  • 10 plus years Experience in the Marine or Offshore Industry.
  • Familiar with Industry Specifications for Marine Equipment.
  • Classification Society Standards for Propulsion Equipment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Marine Engineering
  • 10 years Experience of Application of Propulsion, DP and Thruster Systems.
